T uesday (9/29) Bob Krueger was Dispatcher with John Diefenbach and Paul Ritterhoff as crew for an evening tour.

     Wednesday (9/30) Warren Olt was Dispatcher with Harry Gesser, Charlie Plantholt and Dick Hutzler as crew for the normal Wednesday tours.

     Thursday and Friday (10/1 and 10/2) Rick Obbink started to clean the North end of the 22nd Street warehouse and continued to work on the trucks for the crane. Ed Amrhein scraped the boom on the crane and has started to prime and paint it.

     Saturday (10/3) It was a busy morning with Mark Hurley, Rick Williams, Dan Lawrence and ??? continuing to work on the "G" scale display. Mark and ??? painted roadbed while Rick and Dan mounted it to the wall.

     Ed and I worked on the trolley roof boards on 3828. The strain of the trolley base had started to pull these boards up from the roof. The trolley base is attached to the trolley boards which are in turn attached by a series of wood screws to small wood cleats every foot or so. Since this car is needed for winter service, the trolley boards could not be removed and the holes in the cleats plugged. Instead, new screws were added at each cleat to hold the trolley boards. The trolley base can put over a 300 pound upward pull on the trolley boards so the boards need to be firmly attached.

     Rick continued to work up at the shop to clean the warehouse.

     Justin continued to work on paint car 127.

     By noon Ed had taken over as Dispatcher with Dennis Falter and Don Homberg as crew. The day started slowly, but by the end of the day the visitors were our normal amount.

     During the afternoon I installed a grounding wire at the 28th Street loop in preparation for connecting the signal contactor. The signal contactor uses the passage of the trolley wheel to apply 600 VDC to a wire that operates a solid state relay. To allow the relay to operate reliably it must have a good path to ground. The ground wire from the rail to the pole that the relay is mounted on provides that good path.

     Sunday (10/4) This was the first time in quite a while that we have had rain on the weekend. The rain started Saturday night and continued though out Sunday. Rick Williams was Dispatcher with Dave Baynes and Dan Lawrence as crew. They had little to do as most of the visitors stayed home.
